Mountain bike pilgrimage route on the Polish side Section 2 Gryfów Slaski - Jelenia Góra
Special highlights on this section include the Pilchowice Dam as well as Wrzeszczyński Lake. Finally, you visit the Church of Grace in Jelenia Góra, the first of the three sacred sites on the entire tour.
Directions
The section from Gryfów Śląski to Lubomierz is a relaxed stage that offers a small break from the previous challenges and prepares you for the next ones. You ride on gravel roads through wide fields. In Lubomierz, the imposing Plac Wolności awaits you, surprisingly impressive for such a small town and worth a visit.
Behind Radomice, you turn onto a small mountain ridge – a classic MTB route. Then you continue through the picturesque "Wild Gorge", traversed by the Maciejowicki stream. The narrow path along the Bóbr River takes you right near the dam, where a steep climb (about 20 meters elevation) awaits, which you have to carry your bike up the "stairs." Once at the top, a break on the bridge with a view of the dam and a short photo stop on the dam crown are worthwhile.
In the next part from the Pilchowice Dam to the Church of Grace in Jelenia Góra, an interesting and challenging route awaits you. The narrow path along the slope of Pilchowice Lake is partly so demanding that you have to get off your bike in some places, but the route is manageable. After a viewpoint on a rock formation, you turn towards the fields and bypass the lakeshore until you reach Barcinek. From there, it quickly goes to Wrzeszczyński Lake, past a weir and further on a wider path right by the water. Numerous roots make the ride varied but without the risk of falling into the water. Soon you pass the knight's tower in Siedlęcin and the famous "Pearl of the West." There, a combined foot and bike path begins. The way is narrow and some sections are paved, with a drainage ditch on the side, but the magnificent views make up for these challenges. In Jelenia Góra, you finally cycle along the Młynówka Canal, which leads you directly to the Church of Grace, the first of the significant attractions on the Sacred Path.
