Cycling Pilgrimage Route Via Sacra

The 260 km long cycling pilgrimage route takes you along sacred sites through Upper Lusatia. Since it is designed as a circular route, you can start from any point. 

In Kamenz, the cycling pilgrims are welcomed by the ambience of a medieval town. Then it continues towards Nebelschütz and Panschwitz-Kuckau. In the village of Temritz, one can already see the impressive silhouette of Bautzen from afar. Then follow smaller villages and tree-lined avenues with wide views over fields. On this stage, you will be accompanied by the view of the Löbauer Berg. The route continues to Jauernick-Buschbach, where a great atmosphere awaits you due to its location by the Berzdorfer See. With Görlitz, you reach another highlight. The "Holy Sepulchre" is an interesting destination for pilgrims from all over the world. Along the Oder-Neiße cycle path, you reach Zittau. The cycling pilgrimage route then leads you through Herrnhut, the monument town Obercunnersdorf, to Cunewalde. From Obergurig, the pilgrimage cycling route leads back to Kamenz.

Directions

The cycling pilgrimage route is a circular route across Upper Lusatia. Various towns are suitable as starting points.
For example, the path leads you from Kamenz via Bautzen and Löbau to Görlitz and from there following the Oder-Neiße cycle path to Zittau, then onwards via Herrnhut and Cunewalde back to Kamenz.

Recommended equipment

Bicycle luggage bags are advantageous for this pilgrimage bike ride.
