Industrial culture, straight paths, and close-up monastery life – that is what makes this approximately 18 km stage of the Via Sacra so special. A stage from Hagenwerder to the impressive St. Marienthal monastery!

Impressive is the huge excavator, which stands as a technical monument in Hagenwerder. The transformation of the lovely landscape into a moon crater has not been long ago and can still be seen in the area. In and around Hagenwerder, some "lost places" can be found through which the hiker passes. Our path is the Neisse bike path. In Leuba, we leave the main bike route and head straight up to the ridge. Wind turbines indicate more modern forms of energy generation. The view can wander here. The natural highlight is the Knorrberg. The huge basalt columns are exposed there and unfortunately quite overgrown. If you make the effort to climb the mountain, you will be rewarded with a very, very beautiful view to the south. Many heat-loving plants have settled. On comfortable forest paths, it goes down to the Neisse valley, to the monastery. Seen from the monastic vineyard, the entire baroque ensemble lies like on a platter before the eyes of the amazed observer. At the monastery, part of the Via Sacra, you can spend the night in former nuns' cells.
