The 176 km long cycling pilgrimage route takes you along sacred sites through the Polish part of Lower Silesia.

This route is suitable for bicycle tours with luggage racks, gravel bikes, and even racing bikes. It extends over 176 km and has an elevation gain of +2362 m and descent of -2046 m. The starting point is in Zgorzelec, the destination in Chełmsko Śląskie, where the route connects to the Czech section.

Nearly the entire route runs on asphalt roads, mostly in good condition with little traffic. Only at a few points does the gradient exceed 6%, with the most difficult sections (up to 12%) on the climb to Wang Church and at the Karkonoska Pass. Along the way, you can enjoy charming small towns of Lower Silesia.

Directions

The route begins at the Old Town Bridge in Zgorzelec, initially following the Lusatian Neisse over concrete and park paths, then switching to smooth asphalt. After almost 10 km of cycle path along the Neisse, there is the opportunity to visit the Stalag VIII A Memorial as well as magnificent views from the Niedów Dam and the Słowiańskie Hill.

From Zawidów to Leśna, the route continues on comfortable asphalt with a slight ascent, beautiful views, and shade through trees. At Grabiszyce Średnie, riders will find a particularly charming section. Shortly before Leśna, the road gets somewhat rougher but remains well rideable.

In Leśna, we cross the Kwisa and climb a short ascent. Highlights such as the view at Orle Skały, the Leśna Dam, and Czocha Castle, which also offers overnight stays, invite you to linger. The ride continues on asphalt and quiet roads to Gryfów Śląski.

The next section starts on the busy DW364 before we turn onto a quieter road near Ubocze and mostly bypass Lubomierz. Then it continues on good asphalt through small villages such as Wojciechów and Maciejowiec, a fast descent to the Bóbr Bridge, and an ascent to the Pilchowice Dam, from which there is a beautiful view of the hydropower plant.

From here, a varied path, partially cobblestone, leads to Jelenia Góra. Along the way are sights such as the "unblown bridge", the knight's tower in Siedlęcin, and the Perła Zachodu. After Jelenia Góra, we reach the Church of Grace via the Młynówka Canal.

The next stage leads to the Wang Church in Karpacz. This is a scenic climb with about 500 m of elevation gain, featuring gradients up to 10% at the end. Then it continues to the Kowarska Pass with a long descent and a steep climb of up to 12%.

From the Kowarska Pass, there is a 15 km long descent to Kamienna Góra. Turns onto quiet side roads add variety. A cycle path on a former railway line leads to the monastery in Krzeszów, inviting a visit. The route ends in Chełmsko Śląskie or optionally back in Kamienna Góra.

The return trip to Görlitz is well possible by public transport. From Chełmsko Śląskie by bus to Kamienna Góra, from there by train to Węgliniec and further by train to Görlitz.
