Cycling pilgrimage route Via Sacra on the Polish side section 1 Zgorzelec - Gryfów Slaski
Special highlights on this section are the Niedów Dam and the panoramas from the Słowiańskie Hills. The Tzschocha Castle is also particularly worth visiting and offers a nice overnight stay on this section.
Directions
Start your journey at the Old Town Bridge in Görlitz and follow the Lusatian Neisse. Along the way, you have the opportunity to visit the Stalag VIII A memorial before cycling almost 10 km along the Neisse on smooth asphalt with beautiful views towards Zawidów.
Over the next 15 km, you will encounter a slight, barely noticeable ascent followed by a pleasant descent. Enjoy the views and shade of the trees, especially in the area around Grabiszyce Średnie. The last 3–4 km before Leśna are in somewhat poorer condition but still rideable.
On the route from Leśna to Gryfów, you cross the Kwisa and tackle a short climb. The viewpoints at Orle Skały and at the Leśniańska Dam offer wonderful panoramas. A special highlight on this stretch is Czocha Castle, which also provides overnight accommodation. From there, the route continues on comfortable asphalt and finally along a narrow, quiet road to Gryfów Śląski.
